The Media Empowerment Program is a comprehensive media education course available to high school students. Participants are empowered to become critical thinkers and creative producers of a wide range of messages using image, language and sound. Topics explored in the program include the power of media, the representation of culture in media, marketing and advertising. The course culminates with students developing and creating powerful short films using digital video technology.
advanced program
Mpower provides ongoing activities and support for advanced students who have completed one year of the Media Empowerment Program. Advanced students develop and produce independent video projects.
consultation and training
Mpower assists schools with developing the capacity to offer effective media arts and education programs. Through consultation and teacher training, Mpower facilitates the incorporation of media literacy strategies and new technologies
in classrooms.
